Mechanic II

This position performs highly skilled work in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel and alternative fuel powered vehicles and equipment in the Village fleet. Work involves the performance of preventative maintenance and repairs on automobiles, medium and heavy-duty trucks, firefighting apparatus, ambulances, police vehicles, construction equipment, snow plows, and other specialized equipment and small machinery. This position is responsible for performing the most complex repairs and requires only occasional instruction or assistance to complete tasks. Works closely with other Village departments to coordinate maintenance and repairs and requires a considerable amount of self-initiative and independent judgment.
