The Village of Roselle, Illinois (population 22,897) is seeking to fill the Foreman Fleet & Facilities position in the Public Works Department due to the upcoming retirement of a long-term employee who serves in this role. The Village is looking to fill this position to allow for a 6 month overlap with the existing Foreman to allow for job shadowing and transition. The Village of Roselle, Illinois (population 22,897) is located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. This position is in charge of directing and overseeing routine activities of divisional employees, work group operations, and contracted work. This position exercises considerable on-site independence in determining how to accomplish assigned tasks and is responsible and accountable for efficient assignment of workers and use of resources. This position recommends to management improved methods and procedures for more efficient operations and scheduling. This position performs work of a skilled nature, which requires special training, education and/or experience and involves participating in, overseeing and coordinating the activities of a group of workers with varying skill levels in a variety of construction, maintenance, and repairs. Work will also include performing construction, maintenance, and repair functions to Village equipment, buildings, and other infrastructure including the operation of heavy equipment and related machinery in compliance with all local, state and federal laws, policies, rules and regulations. Depending on the overall qualifications of individual employees, including skills, knowledge, and experience, the divisional responsibilities assigned to each Foreman may vary. However, at this time, the Department expects to appoint a Foreman overseeing the Fleet & Facilities Division. Based on the divisional responsibilities assigned to Foreman, additional knowledge, licenses and certifications may be required such as, but not limited to:  Knowledge of journey to master level automotive and heavy equipment systems and their maintenance and repair, including gasoline and diesel powered automotive and construction equipment, police and fire vehicles/equipment and up-to-date computer testing equipment.  Knowledge of building systems and their operations, maintenance and repair including electrical, plumbing, sprinkler, HVAC, carpentry, roofing, building, etc.  Formal training in the maintenance and repair of gasoline and diesel vehicles and equipment. Desired possession of National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification as a Master Automobile Technician and/or Master Heavy Duty Truck Technician and/or equivalent manufacturer certifications at the time of application and commencing employment. If determined necessary by the Village, ability to successfully obtain additional ASE certifications within twelve (12) months of notification.  Desired possession of EVT certification (as issued by the Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission) at the time of application and commencing employment or if determined necessary by the Village, the ability to successfully obtain within twelve (12) months of notification. The ideal candidate must possess: proven leadership skills, knowledge and experience leading crews, projects and construction with successful outcomes, minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible fleet and facility operation and maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience. A high school diploma (GED or equivalent), a current and valid Illinois motor vehicle operator’s license with a CDL endorsement (or capable of acquiring CDL within six months. Training for CDL license will be provided). This position is responsible for working approximately forty hours (40) each week with occasional overtime and weekend assignments. The salary range is $78,626 to $107,704 and the starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
